Chancellor Alexander Cartwright will be leaving MU to serve as University of Central Florida President, Choi announced in an email sent out on March 20.

In his email Choi said he will share announcements about MU’s leadership transition plans in the coming weeks.

The UCF Board of Trustees selected Cartwright as the president-elect. This comes after Columbia Daily Tribune announced on Wednesday that Cartwright was named a finalist for the position. Cartwright competed against fellow finalists David Brenner, vice chancellor for health sciences at the University of California - San Diego, and Cato Laurencin, chief executive officer of the Connecticut Convergence Institute for Translation in Regenerative Engineering at the University of Connecticut.

Cartwright served as MU chancellor since August 2017, following the resignation of former chancellor R. Bowen Loften who resigned during the Concerned Student 1950 protests of 2015.
