Being back at school can bring a mixture of emotions. Whether you’re reluctant to let go of summer or you’re super excited to get back to your studies, everyone could use some feel-good tunes for the start of the school year. Here are some to check out:

“Panama” - Sports It’s impossible not to feel like dancing when you listen to Sports’ upbeat dream pop, and Panama is an especially feel-good song. It has summer vibes, which is a nice way to hold on to the past few months. If you’re a fan of Tame Impala’s sound, you’ll like this.

“Archie, Marry Me” - Alvvays This song is a highlight of Alvvays’ first album. Simply put, it’s a very happy song full of detailed lyrics, and you feel like you can totally understand singer Molly Rankin’s feelings. If you’re ever feeling cynical, “Archie, Marry Me” will make you feel better.

“Riot Rhythm” - Sleigh Bells Sleigh Bells has plenty of feel-good songs, and this one makes you feel like you can take on anything. It has a strong beat and kind of has a “marching into battle” feeling, which is just what a lot of us need for the start of a new semester.

“Radio” - Sylvan Esso This song is powerful and straight up fun to listen to. Plus, Sylvan Esso will be coming to The Blue Note on Sept. 25.

“Garden” - Hinds Hinds has a unique sound and its pop is unlike that of most American bands. The four women who hail from Spain bring tremendous energy to every song and “Garden” is no exception. If you like yelling along to songs and not caring about how you sound, this one is a good choice.

“The Cosmos” - Porches Porches have more mellow songs, but this one is a rare instance of high-energy. The hook, “I don’t live here, I live in the cosmos,” provides a dreaminess and a hopefulness in the song and it won’t fail to make you want to sing along.

“No Matter Where We Go” - Whitney This song is so wholesome, and if you really want to feel happy, check out the music video to this song, too. This song feels summery and full of nostalgia, and the line “I wanna drive around with you with the windows down” is so simple yet so relatable.

“I Want You Back” - Hoodoo Gurus If you’re looking for an ‘80s jam, look no further. This song from the Hoodoo Gurus may have (almost) the same name as a Cher Lloyd song from 2012, but it has a totally different sound. It’s hard not to dance when you hear this song.

“Wow” - Beck Beck’s current sound is pretty different from when his first few albums came out, but it’s still just as good. This song has more of a pop feel and it’s great to dance to. It’s also unbelievably catchy. Get ready for this one to be stuck in your head.

“Elevator Operator” - Courtney Barnett All of Courtney Barnett’s songs include incredibly specific details and stories, and “Elevator Operator” is one of the best examples of this. It follows a young man who decides to skip work for a day and instead hang out on the roof of a building. The lyrics are surprising, clever and captivating, and you’ll find yourself wanting more.
