Paramore's new album revives band

The opening, powerful guitar riffs in “Careful”, the lead track of Paramore’s new album Brand New Eyes, serves up a strong reminder that the popular rock punk band is back with a vengeance with their first studio album in more than two years.

Following the lead by their single “Ignorance”, many of the songs are driving rock songs with catchy lyrics that are hard not to sing along with. There is a noticeable difference in sound in these new songs when compared back to Riot! but the change is a good one.

The band is careful not to box themselves into this rock centered corner with songs like “The Only Exception” and “Misguided Ghosts” featuring less of the guitar and more of frontwoman Hayley Williams’ amazing vocal skills. It’s a welcome break between the ear-pounding tracks and is one of the reasons the album shines so bright.

There is no one track that sticks out between the eleven songs. All of the songs flow easily and mesh together well with each other; all have good lyrics and the band seems to have put as much heart into each song as the one before it and the one after it.

If you have completely moved away from physical music these days, those things called CD’s, the deluxe version is one of the first albums to use iTunes’ new LP feature, something definitely worth taking a look at.

Brand New Eyes is a fantastic return to the studio for Paramore - a five out of five.
