Sheriff's department holds sobriety checkpoint
The Boone County Sheriff's Department conducted a sobriety checkpoint late Thursday evening to Friday morning, a news release stated.
The checkpoint was held in the 200 block of Old Plank Road East in Columbia. The Hallsville Police Department assisted the Sheriff's department and had the support of the Boone County Chapter of Mothers Against Drunk Driving (M.A.D.D.).
Around 150 vehicles were stopped during the checkpoint, resulting in five misdemeanor arrests for driving while intoxicated, one felony drug arrest, one arrest for driving with a suspended drivers license and four liquor law violation arrests.
According to the news release, after the checkpoint, another DWI arrest was made as officers were returning to the Sheriff's department. A total of six DWI arrests were made during the checkpoint.
