Gun found in MU building
The MU police department received a call about a gun that was found in a box at the Division of Information Technology building around noon on Tuesday. The investigation is still ongoing.
MU Police Chief Jack Watring said that having the weapon in the building is a violation of university rules and regulations but there was never a threat to the staff and students.
"The point of this thing is no one was put in any danger," he said.
Watring also said that the owner of the gun has been located.
MU spokesman Christian Basi said that the MU police are working with the university's Human Resources Department in the investigation.
